Important interest poll + round 15 tiebreakers

We are hoping to continue running this community for a while, but putting a lot of effort into a community on such shaky ground right now seems wasted, so we'd like to ask for your opinions about a possible move to Dreamwidth. I hope as many as possible will respond in some way, so we know whether this move would be worth the effort or not.

The current round may be extended if we do undertake a move right now, because setting things up and learning to use a new platform will require a lot of time. Please stay tuned for updates on this. Feel free to also offer other comments, suggestions and feedback in the comments!

I'll admit that I haven't had the oomph to participate at all, but in the end, my vote is whatever feels right for the mods is what works for me. Y'all rock! ♥

I voted for the second option. However, I'm not sure LJ will stay afloat for much longer. At least not for users outside of Russia since that is where LJ's servers are. If the Russian population is getting cutoff from the rest of the world, that will probably also happen the other way eventually.

Maybe already getting a backup community, if you want to continue running it, would be a good option. I love this community, but I also know it's a lot of work. I hope that icon makers will move to DW. It would be a shame to lose this awesome group.

I made one set with 9 icons and one with 5 so far, but i'd been hoping to add to them, of course. So I did want to use the rest of the month if at all possible.

(But yes, it was very inspiring, and I love songsets. :D)

I picked the second option in the poll but I was pretty torn between that and the first one — I have accounts in both places so I would still participate (when i can get my personal inspo to cooperate) regardless of whether you decide to go with DW or LJ :) Definitely seems safe to have a backup considering how things are going!

Heya! It's sad to see the reality creeping in to our comfort spaces but of course, what can we do but try to manage to our best?
I'm already very active on DW and its icon communities so it would be cool with me if you moved there,as we don't have a community there where people can make up to 20 icons and full of inspiration. :)

I personally love this somin30 community and it would be sad to if this ended. Because of that I am ready to move DW and it would be wonderful to see you all there too ♥ I am already plan round 17 but now we have to think in which community the round continues.

I already have a dw account and Im pretty much active in the various icon related activities over there so it wouldn't be a problem with me so I'm hoping the mods of this community do what they feel is in the best interest of it and feel comfortable doing. Take all the time needed. We all are going through very stressful times and I just don't want to lose contact with any of the icon making friends but if anyone doesn't want to move on to dw , what else can I do but part with them and still be thankful to them for being part of my beautiful experience.
Having said that, I really hope most of the makers eventually move and join dw at their own pace. The more the merrier. Dw already has an active and steadily gowing icon community so I'm sure once the new members get the hang of the site , they'll feel pretty welcome there and enjoy the atmosphere there.
At this point, this site can simply disappear one morning and the danger of that is not small . Better to be ready . But ngl , this lj news kind of hit the truth of war reaching our comfort places.

I also voted for the second option, just because at this point it's easier for me to post here, but if it'll break down or LJ will stop existing I will gladly move to DW. I have an account so it's ont a problem, it's just a matter of me being lazy, and learning the new site.

Quite honestly, DW and LJ are *identical* to use. They forked off the codebase when DW was founded, and they made a few changes, but nothing major. You can use the exact same formatting (including lj user tags and cut tags etc.) than on LJ and the post will come out exactly as it would on LJ. You have a limited image hosting, just like on LJ, if you want to use that (but you don't have to). There is practically no learning curve involved.

Basically: I wouldn't worry about that.

You might fiddle a while with a community style/layout if you're interested in that, but most people will see it in their own style anyway, so I wouldn't worry about that either.

I tried the import this afternoon, and while posts didn't get through, it did import bio and tags just fine.

I prefer staying on LJ as long as possible, but I do have a DW account if necessary. I'm sad I haven't been able to make any icons lately; I've just been crazy busy with moving and a new job. But hopefully once it settles, I can be more involved again!

I think it would be a good idea to have a backup comm on DW just in case, speaking in computing terms is better to have everything backed-up somewhere safely than losing the data and having to start from scratch — I learned that the hard way. I will stay here as long as possible to things hopefully will blow over
