somein30 is an icon challenge community that got started on LiveJournal and is now on its 16th round. I'm making this backup community here on Dreamwidth just in case LJ shuts down or becomes geographically restricted in the near future. As long as it is there, the LJ version can still be used, but important posts will be posted here as well. Feel free to use both or either for your entries.

Please note that nothing is finished yet, we're trying to set up a community style as well as fix LJ references in the profile and in the promo code, so please don't use the promo code yet before we've had the chance to fix it for DW :)

The current round will last for two months (NEW COUNTDOWN) to give us time to get things working here and possibly find a way to restore some of the previous content (a hall of fame of previous winners, maybe even the previous challenge posts).

We are hoping to continue running this community for a while, but putting a lot of effort into a community on such shaky ground right now seems wasted, so we'd like to ask for your opinions about a possible move to Dreamwidth. I hope as many as possible will respond in some way, so we know whether this move would be worth the effort or not.

The current round may be extended if we do undertake a move right now, because setting things up and learning to use a new platform will require a lot of time. Please stay tuned for updates on this. Feel free to also offer other comments, suggestions and feedback in the comments!

Also, it was suggested that some makers might want be unable to make posts at LJ but might want to enter the challenge anyway from elsewhere. This is now possible, starting with the next round each challenge post will have a separate thread for links for entries outside of LJ (and you can enter this current round that way too, even though there's no separate thread for it). The mods will post the entry post to this comm for you, but this might take a couple of days, so be patient if using this option. This info will be added to the Q&A post asap.

In case anyone is wondering about how to comment on DreamWidth without a DW account, you can use OpenID and provide your journal link ( https://(username).livejournal.com , replace the placeholder with your own username) to the OpenID field.
